Fremont Troll

There is a gigantic troll under the Fremont Bridge in Seattle. Holding a full VW Bug in its clawed mitt, it scans the grounds with its one silvery, cataractous eye looking for intruders.

Tiny Shrines

Maude May, of Spark Art in Seattle, made these miniature shrines. By ripping apart wooden frames from Ikea, she inserted a collage of photos, stamps, illustrations, beads and trinkets. Collages, prayer flags, felted tea cozies — more Maude art to come!

Added Storage

I drive a ‘94 Toyota Tercel. I am very familiar with the storage limitations of a compact sedan. And I have gotten creative with ropes and bungees, attempting to employ my bike rack for larger items such as couches and armoires. But this woman’s strategy to increase her car’s storage space goes beyond my creativity and understanding. If I’m doing the math right, I think she’s added about 117MB of trunk space to her Honda, assuming that each floppy disk contains about 300K of storage and there are around 400 disks. Someone should tell her that a small 2″ x .5″ 365 MB memory stick as a hood ornament would have given her 3 times as much room. Regardless, that still doesn’t resolve the problem of how to fit an armoire into 365MB.

Here’s a new way to spend your evenings NOT watching tv: make paper dolls. It’s not just for little girls anymore. Dharma and friends proved this true, coming up with a variety of outrageously hilarious costumes for this seemingly innocent Swiss-looking doll. Click the arrows on the side of the frame above to view the different outfits.
