My sister’s senior portrait. Yes, she’s biting the leaf. Yet another way to make your parents crazy! I believe her senior quote was, “Aloha means Hello and Goodbye!” Awesome.

In one week I’ll be leaving my job. The saddest part about this is that I have to take down my Glamour Shots collage. It started when I hung the one photo of my sister and I cheesing out for my dad, who is on an endless quest to get a “nice christmas card shot of the girls” (we don’t make this easy). Then I found an old picture of my boyfriend doing the same fist to chin thing. THEN someone at my office found a picture of Castro in perfect Glamour Shot form! Could that be more perfect! It did cross my mind that that could be someone else’s fist punching Castro’s chin, but if that’s the case, he’s either truly unflappable or completely unaware.

We had a snow day today! A rarity in Portland, this only happens every couple of years. Nobody went to work or school, people pulled out whatever snow toys they own–in some cases they had to be innovative, I saw a laundry basket fashioned into a sled.

I’m not usually this much of a Martha, but it’s been cold and gross here the last few weeks and it’s hard to leave the house. These are gifts I made for my friend in Montana who’s about to have her second child. The baby sling looks funny in the photo because there’s no baby in it. I tried to put a pillow in it, but that looked weirder. The baby onesies have pieces of fabric that I cut out and sewed on the front. I made them because I had a bunch of spare onesies–kind of an odd thing to have on hand. I wanted to buy just one for a friend to make a gag gift, but apparently they’re like Jockey briefs, you have to buy a 5-pack.

I never understood the point of these things, which made it a perfect useless craft project! Supposedly they keep your ankles warm when you don’t want to wear socks with your shoes. That’s cool.

My family in paper mache. My Christmas gift to them. My dad’s mask is pretty right on. My sister and stepmom we call ‘The Marthas’ (aka Stewart and Washington). You got to love them for actually LIKING them–they wore them around town all Christmas day. Nevermind that that they couldn’t see or breath (I left out a few essential features–oops). What a good family.
